NGM College has instituted a Research Council with the view to develop research, mobilize funding from different agencies, promote innovative research and enhance quality publication with higher H-index. The Council has promoted and motivated the faculty to apply for and receive several research projects from government funding agencies such as DST, DBT, CSIR, ICSSR etc. The outcome of the research has created technologically innovative solutions for rural community, created several entrepreneurs and opened up employment opportunities. The College has successfully conducted more than 40 research related National conferences and 10 research projects are currently in progress. The college funds fundamental research by awarding seed money of Rs. 25,000/- to faculty members who submit approved research proposals each semester, enabling them to proceed with the intended study.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) in NGM College, has been established to develop entrepreneurial Culture among the students and to foster the growth of innovation which helps in developing entrepreneurial abilities. NGM EDC is one of the best spoken about institutional innovation under EDII – Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute, Government of Tamil Nadu, Bharathiar University Hub, Coimbatore.
The EDC is consistently organizing Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC), Entrepreneurship-cum-Skill Development Programme, and Entrepreneurship Promotional activities to promote and develop the entrepreneurial skills among the students to equip them qualities required to run a business successfully. As a result seven campus startups such as Hostspacio Web Solutions, Mariammal Boutique, Lychee Mart, Organic Ferto, Nature Plazaa, Nandha Home Made Natural Products and Sweet Paradise – Home made Sweets are established in the campus. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was launched by Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India on 29th September 2015. NIRF outlines a methodology to rank academic institutions across the country on a range of parameters drawn from the overall recommendations by a core committee set up by the ministry. The college has constituted a committee with an objective to collect the data on the following parameters
(a) Teaching, Learning and Resources
(b) Research and Professional Practices
(c) Graduation Outcomes
(d) Outreach and Inclusivity and
(e) Perception and the data submitted.
It also provides clarity about the standard of the course delivered and the standard of education an institution provides. The matrices considered for the ranking process are quantity-based and every aspect of an institution is scanned. It helps in deriving clarity on the standard of the institution in all aspects.
NGM College has been ranked 95th among colleges in India in the National Institutional Ranking Framework 2023 (NIRF2023) released by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. This glorious achievement has been a testimony to the high standards of academic excellence pursued by the college for nearly sixty-seven years and the unwavering commitment and dedication demonstrated by its faculty and staff.

In November 2018, NGM College created the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) as part of the MHRD, and they were honored with the first golden star by MHRD. IIC works to ignite entrepreneurship among students, and they do this through a variety of activities. From encouraging students with innovative projects to organize product expos to showcase their inventors and hosting idea contests and hackathons to identify talented individuals and by providing mentorship for them, IIC has made a point to facilitate venture creation. The focus of IICs is to create vibrant local innovation ecosystems, as well as start-up/entrepreneurship support mechanisms. Idea competitions and hackathons are held to identify talents, mentor and train them in order to help build ventures. NGM IIC Scale Level 1 star has been promoted to 3.5 star in the year 2023.
