About the Seminar
Microbes are omnipresent, versatile and smart in all ecosystems, and they can survive in any extreme environment where other organisms struggle to exist. Microbes are inevitable for they conquer our day-to-day life either in a useful or harmful manner. The role of microbes in human welfare starts from their role in many of the biochemical processes such as digestion, fermentation, decomposition, leaching and the microbial products include probiotics, single-cell protein, vaccines, antibiotics, biofuels, biofertilizers, bio-pesticides, compost etc. Nevertheless, some are highly pathogenic and makes a human life fatal. The diseases such as Plague, Dengue, Tuberculosis, SARS, AIDS, Covid-SARS are life-threatening. Consequently, it is high time to comprehend the diversity, ecology, lifecycle, metabolism and applications of microbes.
Post-covid era has given a new thrust to microbes, not just about its pathogenic and symptoms; nevertheless to more on its antimicrobial activity and its application as vaccines, edible vaccines, in addition to other applications like drug discovery and enzyme research.
Consequently, its high time to understand, discuss and share the knowledge on microbes from its ecology, morphology, diversity, genetics, evolution, plant–microbe interaction, infection cycle, metabolism, genomics to metabolomics. Hence, we believe that the two days Lecture workshop on “Understanding microbes on Ecology, Diversity and Applications” would bring new insights into the
microbial world. Moreover, this is to provide a common platform for the academicians, research scholars, students with the eminent microbiologists of our country. The lectures will also enlighten the young minds and budding research scholars to focus
on the latest trends and updates in the microbial world.
