DR. S. Saravana Babu
DR. S. Saravana Babu is a renowned academician, former Principal and Head Department of Botany ,Chikkaiah Naicker College , Erode .He has 32 years of teaching experience and 28 years of research experience in the field of limnology, ethnobotany and environmental science. His areas of interest include Botany, biotechnology,environmental biotechnology and water management. He has published more than 40 research papers in various reputed journals. He has authored several books entitled “Erode district environmental profile”, Hand book on environment and the activities of Eco-club, Applied Botany, Cytology, Genetics and Evolution.
His exemplary leadership plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape, ensuring high standards of instruction, and facilitating the development of both students and faculty. He is a member of various professional bodies. He is the founder, secretary of ‘Flora’ – a biological association.He is the president of “The organization for industrial spiritual and cultural advancement” .He is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards. He has received Best citizen ‘Topline’ award from Jaycees in 2000, Anna award for the best Environmentalist in education and research from Government of Tamil Nadu in 2000,The Best teacher award from Tamil Nadu State council for higher education in 2009. He also served as the member of the review committee in UGC assignments. He has produced 25 Ph.Ds and 43 M.Phils to his credit in field of research. He has completed 3 major and 6 minor projects. He has conducted various Consultancy programs and In-house Training programs for the benefit of the students.
