The Department of Human Excellence, National Cadet Corps (NCC), and National
Service Scheme (NSS), in association with Mahalingam College of Engineering and
Technology, Pollachi, Nachi Muthu Polytechnic College, Pollachi, and Pollachi College of Arts
and Science, Poosaripatti, celebrated the 9th International Day of Yoga on June 21st, 2023 at
Vivekanandar Arangam, NGM College, Pollachi.The event commenced with an invocation,
setting a peaceful and serene atmosphere for the day’s activities. Lt. Dr. M. Chithirai Selvan,
Associate NCC Officer at NGM College, delivered a welcome address.
Dr. R. Muthukumaran, the Principal of NGM College, delivered the presidential address,
in his speech he emphasized the significance of yoga in promoting physical and mental wellbeing, recognizing its positive impact on overall health.
A captivating yoga demonstration was conducted by Thiru. V. Settu, Assistant Professor,
Department of Human Excellence. Through graceful postures and controlled breathing
techniques, he showcased the immense benefits of yoga for both the body and mind, inspiring
the participants to embrace this ancient practice. Participants then took the Yoga Day Pledge,
affirming their commitment to incorporate yoga into their daily lives for a healthier and more
balanced lifestyle.
Dr. S. Jagadambal, Assistant Professor, Department of Human Excellence, led a
meditation session, providing an opportunity for participants to experience inner peace and
tranquility. S. Jeyalakshmi, Head, Department of Human Excellence at NGM College,
introduced the esteemed resource person for the event, Dr. S. Pragadeeswaran, Professor,
Department of Business Administration, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, delivered a
special address on the connection between humanity and yoga. He emphasized how yoga
promotes compassion, mindfulness, and a sense of interconnectedness, leading to a harmonious
society.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mr. S.Vignesh, the NSS
Programme Coordinator at NGM College, and expressing gratitude to all the participants, guests,
and organizers who made the event a resounding success. The program culminated with the
singing of the National Anthem. More than 250 students demonstrated various yogasanas as per
the Yoga protocol, showcasing their dedication and enthusiasm for yoga. The event attracted
over 500 students, faculty members from various departments, the Manager, the Dean, the
Deputy Controller of Examinations and all the faculties of Department of Human Excellence. All
the participants were benefitted from the 9th International Day of yoga celebrations
