The Department of English NGM College, Pollachi celebrated Children’s Day by organizing an Extension program for the school students of Panchayat Union Elementary School, Chandrapuram. The celebrations began with the students paying floral tribute to Bharathiar statue and Swami Vivekananda statue located in the college. The students also paid homage to the visionary poet by reciting his patriotic songs with nationalistic fervor.
As part of the Extension program various competitions like Drawing and Handwriting (English &
Tamil) contests were held and the young winners were given prizes by the Principal of the College Dr.
- Muthukumaran and Head of the Department Dr. S. Muthukumaravel.
The principal who also delivered the special address in the program referred to the children as the future of the nation, whose purity and innocence affects Everyman in a positive way.
One of the scholars of the department dressed as chacha Nehru in Kadhi Kurta pyjama and cap received the children with warmth and kindness and spent time with them as they were given eatables and some valuable gifts like stationaries and notebooks. The school children were
overwhelmed with joy and excitement when they were gifted with story books by the department students as token of love and affection.
The children enjoyed their day out as much as they made the day special for the staff and students of English department.
