The Department of Human Excellence at NGM College organized a 7-day Faculty Development Programme titled “Yoga for Emotional Stability” from July 15 to July 24, 2024. The program aimed to enhance emotional stability and overall well-being among faculty members through yoga. The event commenced on July 15 with an invocation, followed by a welcome address from N. Panneerselvam and addresses from Dr. R. Manicka Chezian and Dr. S. Saravanababu. A total of 107 faculty members participated.
On July 16, the focus was on “Yoga for Healthy Life,” with sessions led by Dr. S. Jagadambal and Dr. P. Veerasithi Vinayagan, emphasizing physical health and mental peace through yoga practices.
The third day, July 18, featured a session on Kayakalpa Philosophy by Dr. K. Perumal, focusing on longevity, health, and spiritual awakening. Practical demonstrations were conducted by Dr. Vinayagan.
July 19’s session centered on introspection practices, led by Dr. S. Jagadambal and D. Gnanasoundari, covering topics like thought analysis, moralization of desire, and anger neutralization.
On July 22, the focus was on Shanthi Initiation, led by S. Shanmuga Vadivu and others, which included meditation and relaxation techniques aimed at reducing stress, improving sleep, and conserving energy.
The sixth day, July 23, explored Thuriya Initiation and Mudras. Dr. Vinayagan discussed the benefits of Thuriya meditation, while Mr. Panneerselvam demonstrated mudras. The session aimed to enhance mental calmness and emotional stability.
The final day, July 24, concluded with a presidential address by Dr. R. Manicka Chezian, emphasizing the integration of yoga into daily life. Feedback from participants highlighted stress relief, improved sleep, and a desire for regular yoga sessions. Dr. Vinayagan delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all involved. The program successfully promoted a holistic approach to health and well-being through yoga.
