FDP for Teaching Faculty (Batch II) –Lifestyle Enhancement for Wellness

The Department of Human Excellence at NGM College organized a 7-day Faculty Development Programme titled “Yoga for Emotional Stability” from July 25 to August 2, 2024, aimed at enhancing emotional stability and overall well-being among faculty members through yoga.

The program began on July 25 with an invocation and welcome address by N. Panneerselvam. Key addresses were delivered by Dr. R. Manicka Chezian and Dr. S. Saravanababu. The first session on Anga Initiation was led by Dr. S. Jagadambal, followed by a yoga demonstration. A total of 80 faculty members participated.

On July 26, the focus shifted to “Yoga for Healthy Life,” with sessions on Kayakalpa by Dr. Jagadambal and practical demonstrations by Dr. Veerasithi Vinayagan.

The third day, July 29, featured introspection sessions led by Dr. Jagadambal, covering topics like thought analysis and moralization of desires. Yoga practices were demonstrated by Ms. D. Gnanasoundari, focusing on joint strength.

On July 30, the session centered on Shanthi Meditation, led by Dr. S. Maheswari and Mr. V. Settu. They emphasized the benefits of meditation and relaxation techniques, including practical demonstrations of various rotations.

The fifth day, July 31, included a special session by Acupuncturist Dr. Magi Ramalingam on “Lifestyle Enhancement for Wellness,” promoting holistic well-being. The importance of emotional stability and continuous professional development in teaching was highlighted.

On August 1, the focus was on Thuriya Initiation and Mudras, led by Dr. Vinayagan and Mr. Panneerselvam. They explained the psychological benefits of Thuriya meditation and demonstrated mudras for physical and mental health.

The final day, August 2, concluded with a presidential address by Dr. Manicka Chezian, emphasizing the integration of yoga into daily life. Participant feedback indicated significant stress relief, improved sleep, and enhanced well-being. The program was praised for promoting a holistic approach to health through asanas, mudras, and meditation. Ms. D. Gnanasoundari delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all involved. A total of 80 faculty members attended the programme.
