The Department of Human Excellence at NGM College organized a 7-day Faculty Development Programme titled “Yoga for Emotional Stability” from August 5 to August 13, 2024. The program aimed to enhance emotional stability and overall well-being among faculty members through yoga practices.
On August 5, the program began with an invocation and welcome address by D. Gnanasoundari, followed by a presidential address by Dr. R. Manicka Chezian, and an introductory address by Dr. S. Saravanababu. The first session on “Enhancement of Mental Ability” was led by Mrs. Arulselvi, followed by a vote of thanks by Dr. S. Maheswari. A total of 46 faculty members from the SF stream attended.
On August 6, Mr. N. Panneerselvam conducted a session on Anga Initiation, emphasizing its benefits with practical demonstrations. The day also included a session on Nadi Shuddhi Pranayama by Mr. V. Settu. A total of 47 faculty members attended.
The third day, August 7, focused on Kayakalpa Philosophy, with sessions led by S. Jeyalakshmi and Mr. V. Settu, covering the principles and techniques of Kayakalpa. Forty faculty members participated.
On August 8, introspection practices were the focus, led by Mr. N. Panneerselvam. Yoga practices for joint strength were demonstrated by Ms. D. Gnanasoundari. A total of 35 faculty members attended.
August 9’s session centered on Shanthi Initiation, with D. Yashotha providing an in-depth explanation and K. Shanthi leading a relaxation session to enhance well-being. Thirty-four faculty members participated.
On August 12, the focus was on Thuriya Initiation and physical exercises, led by Dr. S. Maheswari and S. Shanmugavadivu. They guided participants through exercises promoting relaxation and calmness. Thirty-seven faculty members attended.
The final day, August 13, featured a summary by Dr. R. Manicka Chezian, emphasizing the importance of balancing work and life through regular yoga practices. He encouraged faculty to use yoga to manage stress, anxiety, and depression. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Jeyalakshmi. A total of 45 faculty members attended, contributing to the program’s success.
