PG and Research Department of Botany, Institution’s Innovation Council NGM College,
Pollachi celebrated National Science Day on 28th February 2023 by organizing a special floral
photography contest to life science euthusiasts including students, faculties and research
scholars. The program was organized with a main theme to make the students to be more
aware on flora and its services to the ecosystem. The contest was prescheduled and given one
month of time to post their pictures. The National Science Day was celebrated on occasion of
discovering Raman Effect by eminent scientist Sir C.V. Raman. About 42 participants were
registered and effectively participated in the Photography competition. Participants from all
over the nation of different states, have participated and showed their photography skills
enthusiastically. The photographs represented by many floras of all over India, Habits and
Habitats of different ecosystem too. Our main theme for this science day is to celebrate the
science with nature and ultimately the competition gives us immense knowledge on nature and
nature conservation. The selection of photographs were made with senior faculty member and
Associate Professor, Dr. R. Kannan, Head, Department of Botany, NGM College, Pollachi. The
results of Photography competition were announced on 28.02.2023 through online and offline
mode. The first place was selected, as CA Akhila, Student of Botany, Vimala College, Thrissur,
the second place was selected as Kaniamudhu, student of National College, Trichy and third
place was selected as T. Chellammal, I M.Sc., Botany Student, NGM College Pollachi, finally the
competition revealed the nature photography skill of next generation science community.
